Pike Place Market, and a Season of Thankfulness

pike place, seattle, puget sound
So far, this October has been my absolute favorite month back in Washington.  I’ve been practically giddy lately, and felt as if a fresh start has come in on this month’s windy weather.  Here’s why: this is my first fall in six years not in a long distance relationship!  School has been the driving force in my seasonal calendar for so long, and the remoteness that comes along with autumn has been self defining.  This month, I was starting to wonder why I have been so excited to see our summer leaves begin to change colors… (until now which meant long goodbyes, and short holiday visits), and I am realizing it is because I get to have all my loved ones around me as we prepare for the cozy, crisp, colorful new season.  This realization has made me feel the most festive I’ve felt since I was a kid, and it feels good to finally welcome fall with open arms.

In addition to these feelings of warmth and elation, We definitely started the month off with one of my favorite dates ever – Pike Place Market.  Yesterday was another reminder that Jameson and I are in the state we love most, and while walking around the piers I couldn’t stop breathing in the smells of the Puget Sound, clam chowder, original Starbucks coffee, and the slight smell of incense which drifts about the stores below the market…  We enjoyed a full day of antiquing, delicious food, city walking, and the cheery sound of street singers.  I am full of joy today, and I know this feeling will exude in today’s painting!
