It is a completely gorgeous 70º day – the kind that gives bulbs the last bit of heat they need to push though the surface. Morning light seeps into the house when we wake up, and the scent of barbecues wafts over the neighborhood on our evening walks. A new season is approaching.
We too are trying to finish up our current quarter, and it seems like lately, our efforts are mostly homeward based. Since January, we’ve been crunching our numbers and “weighing our figs,” and our noses are at the grindstone. Jameson has been writing papers left and right, composing new melodies, going to concerts, playing in concerts, preparing for his recital, and bringing home bacon. I have become extra diligent about cooking healthy, keeping our fridge stocked with leftovers, packing lunches, keeping things tidy, maintaining Gracie’s abundant fur and extensive shedding, and bringing home the bacon bits. (To name a few of our responsibilities.)
It definitely has been a busy season, but it doesn’t feel like the kind of busy when we are running around confused why nothing is getting done. Actually, lots of things are getting done. The busy we’re currently in feels like hard work, but it’s because we are running a well oiled machine. I guess you could say is that we are getting good at being married and running a home. This chapter feels different to me because we are tired, but not weary. We are busy, yet not distant from each other. We are growing closer because we are learning how to work as a team and accomplish that which is on our plates.
I am looking forward to Jameson being a graduated man with his hard earned masters degree, and a new lifestyle where being married students is a thing of the past. We are good at working hard, but we are very good at playing hard, and I am anticipating when we can once again do both equally. Until then, expect a few intermissions between blog posts. And pray for us to finish strong.

What a great post. I am eagerly anticipating our upcoming chapter which will hold new routines and a new process, but the same machine, which we will hopefully continue to oil and refine! When I see you next, please share with me more about cooking healthy and keeping house!
